Description

This is an old iteration of the Anparym species. Expect changes in any new submissions featuring them.

please~

About Uspi: Personality-wise, she is a relatively level-headed, easygoing individual. Uspi is more concerned with the emotions of those who are close to her rather than her own. She can behave like quite a doormat to avoid conflict: when faced with unfamiliar people she tends to clam up and practically ignore their existence unless she absolutely has to interact. She tends to act more strong-willed when her face is covered by one of her altered skulls, rather than simply bound in cloth as is her species' custom.
She had a normal childhood for an anparym, being ingested as an egg and spending the larval years of her life inside her living host body and continuing as normal upon moulting and breaching. When she neared her adult stage, however, she made the very odd decision to leave the underground cities that anpari, among many other species, are considered exclusive to.

About Anpari:
Anpari (singular anparym) are parasitic as larvae, ingested as eggs through a water source, or, if there isn't a reliable source present, implanted in a host body by the mother herself—she will make a small cut where the host is unlikely to see or reach the wound (between the shoulder blades, for example) and insert the egg by hand.
Anpari secrete a numbing lubricant from glands located at the base of fins on their tails, which they apply to their target's skin before cutting into it. They are relatively slow moving and will only target prey at night, when their quarry is sleeping.
An adult anparym no longer enters a host body: instead they simply numb their prey and kill them by cutting their throat, or through similar means.
Anpari do not stay in the host until adulthood, they exhaust the resources it provides long before that. The host dies, and the young anparym--just out of its fragile larval form--will breach from the body. The young anparym takes an alarmingly large portion of the host's body just prior to breaching, which tends to show outwardly, generally giving the creature a visibly distended stomach, the abdomen being where the anparym will stay as it nears breaching.
The anparym's form upon breaching is similar to a much smaller form of an adult. Perhaps what could be considered a more standard 'child' form.
In this form, they hunt in the way adult anpari do.

Anpari's true eyes are extremely photosensitive, and cannot be exposed to direct light. They have simple eyes on their bodies that can process light, or lack of it, giving them the ability to judge their surroundings to some extent when they cannot otherwise see properly.

Anpari are not an open species.

If you read all that, post "worm".
I finished a ref sheet? Oh god. It's a miracle.

The art and character concept are very nice, but as for the species itself, oviparity and sapience don't mix. Also, what are the "breasts" for? If they aren't mammals and don't care for their young, what function do those serve? I also can't see a parasite evolving sapience/hands with opposable thumbs, since they wouldn't need them. Consider the mechanics behind humans evolving into tool users, and what we, as mammals, had to evolve before we could develop intelligence.

If these are purely fantasy creatures, then don't pay any attention to me, lol. I'm just very anal when it comes to scientific accuracy in species ;p
